Paul Kirkconnell |
The Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) is pleased to welcome Paul Kirkconnell as Executive Vice-President, Venture Capital. Mr. Kirkconnell will lead BDC’s direct and indirect venture capital investments in technology-based businesses, and strategic initiatives designed to stimulate Canada’s venture capital and innovation ecosystems. BDC has over $700 million in committed venture capital investments.
Mr. Kirkconnell brings over 25 years of experience in investments, business development, corporate strategy and consulting gained in Canada, the U.S. and Europe, with a focus on the healthcare sector. Prior to joining BDC, he was owner of P-A-K Limited, providing strategy, financing and corporate development advice to emerging biopharmaceutical companies and their investors. From 2005 to 2007, he was Managing Director of DRI Capital, a privately-held investment management company with over US$1.0 billion under management. Before this, he established Aventis Capital which had over $750 million under management.
Mr. Kirkconnell holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario (Richard Ivey School of Business).
